How to remove wall paper
Is that wallpaper staring at you every day begging to be taken down? If so, you’ve come to the right place to learn how to get it out!
You’re obviously going to want to do this without hurting the drywall…or yourself. Some people will tell you that you just need to wet the paper (which softens the glue), find a seam and strip it off. You’ll want to add patience to that process.
Step 1: Go out and purchase some wallpaper removal solvent. Any home improvement store will have this. Then grab a wallpaper scraper to go with it. The scraper will put small holes in the wall and allow the solution to get to work. A putty knife and warm water will complete your list of tools.
Step 2: Test a small area on the wall. Try and remove the wallpaper by stripping it and if it doesn’t remove easily, apply the wallpaper removal solution. Leave on for roughly 30 minutes or read the bottle. This should at least remove the paper
Step 3: Get rid of the glue. This is where the wallpaper scraper comes into play. Remember to only do one sheet of wallpaper at a time if there are other layers. There may be a few small holes due to the scraper. Spackle as needed and sand the walls to make sure the surfaces are even and ready to paint!
This shouldn’t be a hard process but it is time consuming. Your walls will look a whole lot better after a pro paint job! On our home page you can sign up for free to get access to our full series of house painting videos!

To Paint or Not to Paint? That is the question...
You’ve explored the art of painting. You’ve exhausted yourself searching the internet for “How-to” videos. And you’ve walked the outside of the house scratching your head in anticipation of painting on your own. You’re next thought: Forget it, I’m bringing in a pro.
No big deal, you’ve decided that the value of your time in addition to the cost of paint and supplies may not be worth it. It’s now time to pick the right painter. That’s easier said than done. Unless you’ve got a Pro Guide like the one Vivax Pro Painting offers. Their face of the company, Hey Paint Guy, is a pro painter himself. It’s taken him years to learn the trade but now he offers his help free of charge.
Here are a few pointers that really just make up the tip of the iceberg when it comes to picking the right painter:
1. Do your homework! Online ratings are a great way to get a feel for a companies reputation (Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.). Don’t just look at what the paint company posts from their customers on their own web site!
2. NO FINE PRINT on warranties. This goes without saying in any industry but it certainly applies to house painting.
3. No skimping on paint. If you want the paint job to weather the winter, you’d better make sure the painter is going to use the right paint. Top of the line paint from Kwal (Ambassador or Liquid Vinyl) and Sherwin Williams (Duration or Super Paint) would be good examples.
There are so many other things to consider. Hey Paint Guy has come up with a 28-point checklist. Visit these Denver painters to get this checklist.

Painting Season Ends Soon!
Yep, the snow is about to fly (and land on our homes) here in Colorado! Last chance to protect your house for the winter, and trust us, the Colorado winter will put a beat down on your house! Even if you can't afford painting your full exterior right now, we highly recommend "winterizing your house." This means to seal up all those cracks and holes in the body of your house where the snow will be sitting and melting on all winter. If you notice any minor water damage close to the ground now, when next spring rolls around it will be much worse, resulting in higher costs to fix it. So, go grab some caulking (make sure the color matches your house so your HOA/neighbor won't have an eye sore) and seal those areas up. It's the same concept as changing your oil in your car... the longer you wait, the more damage you'll have, and it will cost more to fix it. Visit some Denver Painters and painting contractors for some professional assistance if you need!
